On-Land / Hands on Tree Planting Workshops
These practices consist of planting bioregional trees and shrubs, seeding biodiversity and mulching with lots of bio-mass to increase and support the mycelium network. This encourages the miraculous transformation of locked up nutrients in dirt into rich viable soil, and a light filtering canapé for local foods and herbs to thrive.
We are also focusing on plant species that generate habitat for pollinators. Over time these methods produce a self sustaining food forest that is drought tolerant as well as a source of high density nutrition. Eating from fertile gardens can restore our bodies of the many ailments, due to a lack of vital nutrients and healthy gut microbiome. It also insures that younger generations get to experience a more full epigenetic expression. This model increases food sovereignty for ourselves, future generations and all members of the local eco system.
Often the concept of “stewardship” is focused on management of the land, using modern reductive science and short sighted goals mainly for personal gain. Rather than developing a humble and sensitive relationship with the land, through long term observation and deep listening as to what natures divine intelligence is guiding us to do.
Through the de-colonizing process of our minds through conscious language and evolving our ways of relating to nature and each other, beyond our sort term personal gain. We can reconnect with traditional practices, used by many ancient cultures for thousands of years and benefit from the wisdom that the plants and elements have to teach us.
I have the great fortune to live in these mountains of Northern New Mexico for over thirty years. I continue to learn directly from witnessing the cycles of the land and listening to our intricate web of life of this high desert environment. It has taught me much! As I become an elder, I feel a great passion to share and inspire others to acquire the knowledge, balance and deep sustenance from the myriad sources this earth mother freely offers to us all for our optimal holistic wellbeing.
